Both Hands Full

Logo, Branding, & Event Promotion | Adobe Illustrator & InDesign

Design Brief

The challenge was to create a brand inspired by the life of a notable person in history, create brand identity guidelines, and design cohesive marketing materials, including a logo, business cards, stationery, and an event poster.

Design Solution

For this project, I created Both Hands Full, a specialty toy store and resource center for children with special needs. The brand is inspired by the amazing life of Helen Keller. After developing the brand identity, I created a logo to represent the brand, which features two outstretched hands coming together to form an inspirational butterfly. Then I designed business cards and stationery and created promotional materials for Create Your Own Ocean, a free community outreach event hosted by Both Hands Full. My goal for this project was to create impactful and engaging branding materials that consistently align with the Both Hands Full mission and visual brand identity.

Design Process

I started this project by learning more about the life and work of Helen Keller and exploring ideas for a brand and brand identity. After developing my brand, I sketched many logo ideas and created the logo with Adobe Illustrator. Over time, my logo went through several revisions to arrive at its final simplified version with fresh typeface and color palette. I then designed business cards and stationery using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

For the second phase of this project, I created the poster for Create Your Own Ocean, a community outreach event hosted by Both Hands Full. After sketching many different concepts for a print event poster, I took my best idea, featuring an event octopus mascot, and created the poster in Adobe Illustrator. I then expanded on this concept to create event web pages, an Instagram post, and packaging. I expanded the brand’s color palette with tints and shades to create the event materials.
